AFL Commissioner Gillon McLachlan said his focus was always “on our collective players”.
“I am not going to comment on specific matters or individuals that may or may not be involved in the Australian Football League as part of the AFL,” he said.
“I also want to focus on a simple truth – no club has a greater sense of ownership in their players and in what they contribute to the game as part of what it is to be a footballer.
“That is what is important to me, and that is what our AFL employees are also very proud to know.
“The AFL Commission and its members have taken those reports extremely seriously and have worked very closely together to ensure that any claims have been and continue to be thoroughly investigated
